Scope of Work for State Advocacy Services

Request for Proposal to the SALTON SEA AUTHORITY For State Grant Advocacy

The SALTON SEA AUTHORITY (SSA) requests contract advocacy firms registered with the Secretary of State/FPPC in Sacramento, California, to provide a proposal for services in legislative advocacy and governmental affairs for the primary purpose of expediting the efficient and timely release of $20 Million in funding from state bonds (Proposition 68) to the SSA.

These funds have been approved by the voters through passage of Prop 68 in June of 2018 specifically for SSA oversight on Salton Sea Management Plan projects in cooperation with the California Natural Resources Agency. State law requires the CNRA to work in cooperation and consultation with the SSA on matters involving restoration of the Salton Sea.

This narrow scope of work may be expanded to include other state financial investments at the Salton Sea within existing bonds and/or new budget appropriations as may affect the SSA in the State of California.

The Board of Directors of the SSA considers this engagement to be a matter of urgency requiring action immediately through the legislative calendar ending October 13, 2019.

Interested firms or individuals are encouraged to provide a summary of relevant qualifications and experience, along with a proposal of work and budget to the SSA before Friday, June 21, 2019. Materials should be submitted electronically to: Attn: SSA Board Secretary, at info@ssajpa.org.
